Drum Corps International

Last night was one of the most AMAZING nights of my life...I saw America's best marching bands! This is the one thing I look forward to every summer...and it was beautiful! Mr. Nix, the band teacher, invited us 'super seniors' (pictured right) to come with the band, so that was nice! The Blue Knights (the hosts of this comp.) had a clinic for the first part of the day for the school students that came to watch, and they just showed them some of the stuff they do every day, which was pretty sweet.

Then came the real fun! There were 7 bands that performed: Spokane Thunder (WA) , Velvet Knights (CA), Troopers (WY), Blue Knights (CO), Phantom Regiment (IL; shown in picture), Blue Devils (CA), Santa Clara Vanguard (CA). They just kept getting better and better! My favorite band, the Blue Devils, had the most amazing show, I loved it! They won the competition, and amazed the crowd! They were all so good, and it was a band nerds dream! It was so fun!

rsl game

My dad won tickets for the RSL game this past Wednesday! He won 4 tickets, so I took my best friend Steffani, and he and Emily joined us! It was pretty excited, I had never been before! They played the San Jose Earthquakes; Ethan assured me that RSL would win, but alas, they did not. They tied, 0-0. We still had tons of fun! Steff and I bought sweet RSL bracelets, which makes us feel cool!
Steff and I then had a slumber party! Well, she just slept over that night and we stayed up talking! Thursday morning, we went to help the GHS band...we're still marching cowboys at heart! We're such nerds! But we had a good time, and Mr. Nix (band teacher) assured us that if we helped the band during the summer, he would pay us, hoping to help us pay for college in some way! That's a nice perk!

slow start to the summer

Well, I was hoping to get this post office job as soon as the summer started, but alas, I must wait 2 more weeks to even see if I get to train for the job. So McDonald's it is! But they love me there and I get paid well so it's not so bad. I'm just hoping that I can save enough money for college! But I'm really excited for school! I just wish it didn't cost anything...aw well! Because I have some extra free time, I've been able to clean my room (finally). It was a disaster before...But I gave a lot of stuff to DI, organized some papers, and vacuumed! :) My mother was greatly pleased! I'm hoping that I can keep this habit up; I guess we'll see. That's all for now, I suppose!

Graduation!!!

Well, here is my first blog post! This is exciting! :) Yesterday was my high school graduation!! It still hasn't sunk in that I'm now a GHS alumni...but I'm sure within the next few days, it will dawn on me. It's been a great week, though! My friends and I have partied our fair share! ha ha! We saw 'The Chronicles of Narnia' on Monday, and it was alright, although I was pretty lost because it's been years since I've read it! But it was still good. Then Tuesday was the Last Chance Dance/Luau, which was amazingly fun! We went ice blocking in Sugarhouse Park which was really fun! Then on Wednesday, a group of us seniors went to a lunch party and played tennis in Tooele, which I'm not very good at!
But last night was the best! We were going to have the graduation outside, but the weather was too unpredictable, so we moved it into the gym. It was pretty crowded but turned out well. As the Sr. Class Historian, I gave the history of the class! And as the Music Sterling Scholar, I played a flute solo; they both turned out well! After taking LOTS of pictures, our family and my friend Tommy's family ate at Wingers in Tooele. It was fun and really good! Then it was time for the Senior Lock-in at the bowling alley in Tooele. We bowled ALL night, but we had a great time!
Overall, this week has been AMAZING!! I hope that I can keep this blog going!
